Silvio Bartoli was born in Monfalcone in 1989. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Piano at the Conservatory of Trieste, studying under the guidance of Claudio Crismani. He also obtained a Bachelor's degree with highest honors cum laude in Composition, studying with Stefano Bellon and Fabio Nieder. Additionally, he completed a Master's degree in Composition with Distinction at the Royal College of Music, studying with Alison Kay.

His musical language primarily centers around post-modernism while also incorporating elements of atonal expressionism, a post-serial approach, and limited transposition modes, influenced by Messiaen. His music is characterized by its restless and impactful nature, with a strong emphasis on the lyrical aspect of the melodic (or motivic) lines. Additionally, a fundamental aspect for him is the development of ideas, whether they are timbral, melodic, or of any kind. This plays a crucial role in the composition's evolution, in line with the intrinsic characteristics of the ideas themselves. His music is published by Universal Edition.

In 2015, he composed a solo piano piece for the cultural association "Woland" as part of the "Prometheus" project, which explored the synesthetic research (connection between sound and color) of the Russian composer Alexander Scriabin.

In 2016, Silvio collaborated in composing the soundtrack for Max Reinhardt's 1911 silent film, "Eine Venetianische Nacht". This composition, written for a large neoclassical wind ensemble, was projected and performed live during the "Le Giornate del Cinema Muto" of the same year, one of the most important international festivals dedicated to silent cinema, and received great critical acclaim. Also in 2016, he won a composition competition in Trieste, earning a scholarship/internship at the University of Toronto, where his composition was premiered. His compositions have been performed in Italy, Canada, and the Netherlands. He participated in masterclasses with renowned composers such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Alessandro Solbiati, Peter-Jan Wagemans, Hans Koolmees, Robin de Raaf, Rene Uijlenhoet, Chaya Czernowin, and Stefano Gervasoni.

As part of the European project "Erasmus Plus," Silvio attended the second year of the Bachelor's degree in Music in Rotterdam at Codarts University of the Arts. He studied with Maestro Hans Koolmees and also focused on electronic composition with Maestro Rene Uijlenhoet. His international experiences have allowed him to establish important relationships with young concert performers, composing pieces specifically for them.

In 2018, he won a competition organized by Maestro Emmanuele Baldini, the artistic director of the Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia (Chile) and the first violinist of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Brazil). The competition involved composing a movement (the fourth) of the "Suite Verdi," a composition based on themes and arias by Verdi in the 19th-century symphonic format. Silvio received the first prize from both the jury and the orchestra, with the performance of his piece "Entropy," dedicated to the OCV (Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia).Furthermore, in the same year, he won the "National Arts Award - Category C, Composition for Orchestra," a competition organized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. His winning composition, "Glitches," is a tribute to Claude Debussy and Gioacchino Rossini and was performed by the ONCI at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.

In September 2019, his chamber opera "Mal di Terra" premiered at the Lauro Rossi Theater in Macerata, Italy. In recent years, numerous performances of his works have taken place in London, with The Hermes Experiment, Explore Ensemble, various solo pieces, and the RCM Philharmonia. In addition to his career as a composer, Silvio Bartoli teaches composition, harmony, piano, music theory, and solfège.
